Welcome to the Third newsletter of 2007 from Dr. Robert
Mansfield. Say it isn't true - a Moral Stone Age? Unfortunately, Dr.
Bob is on to something here.
Are
We Returning To a Moral Stone Age?
Corporate America is rapidly
rejecting biblical values. In May, Proctor and Gamble caved in to
pressure by gay activists and dropped its sponsorship of Dr. Laura
Schlessinger’s television show, for she had dared to say that the gay
lifestyle was a choice, not genetic, and was unnatural. In today’s
world, this is not politically correct. In June, General Motors,
DaimlerChrysler and Ford extended company benefits to the domestic
partners of homosexual employees. Disney, Microsoft and IBM had already
done so. There has been no general outcry from the American public.
Lightdog, a Minneapolis promotions
firm and its software contractor, Rhinosoft, included the New
International Version of the Bible on Cd-Rom discs that were to be
placed in boxes of Cheerios, Total and Wheaties. These discs also had
computer games, an encyclopedia, a thesaurus, dictionary and Disney’s
game show, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.” When General Mills
discovered the Bible had been included, it apologized to the public.
Disney said the inclusion of the Bible was offensive. To whom, I wonder?
Historically, Communist countries feared the Bible
more than illegal drugs. Their leaders believed that religious
influences were dangerous, and so they were, for if a person’s primary
allegiance is to God, he cannot put the state first. Apparently
corporate America also regards biblical values as harmful and dangerous.
For many today, this is a correct view. For them, pluralism means
diluting all religious opinions to the least common denominator. They
may believe in God, but that belief does not translate into ethical,
moral standards. Many a businessman will put “Jesus is Lord” on his
bumper sticker, but cheat you at every turn.
A short pause for this month's sponsor:
Read the
exciting e-book: Angel of Light
The contest between the angelic and demonic worlds on the human
stage. Lansing Harris, PhD, administrator of Light Memorial Cathedral,
finds himself in conflict with the Pastor and Youth Leader over the
development of an abortion clinic. The story involves a satanic cult,
kidnapping, murder and romance, with insight into evil in the heart of
man.

Consider the
consequences of this attitude. Once we reject absolutes, everything
becomes relative. If rape, incest, homosexuality, child abuse and child
pornography were wrong in the 19th century, according to relativism they
may be acceptable behavior in the 21st century. Bribery and corruption
of public officials is therefore merely a way to do business, as it is
in South America, Mexico, Africa and Russia. Blasphemy in films is O.K.
Political spin is the way to win elections. Truth no longer matters.
Before Roe vs. Wade, abortion was a criminal act; today our political
leaders sanction partial birth abortion where the infant is killed as it
is about to be born in a most cruel and inhuman way.
Garry Nation said,
“One of the most devastating consequences of the loss of Christian
moral absolutes is that society has been robbed of the standards it
needs to check itself, to navigate safely the straight between tyranny
and anarchy.” (G. Nation, “recovering Christian Ethical
Absolutes,” unpublished paper presented to the Oxford Society of
Scholars, Dayton, TN, Aug. 1999)
Adjust your attitude so the Moral
Stone Age ends.
Talk to you next time.
